The Heard. What is it?

The Heard is a non-profit organization with the goal of raising awareness for the biggest elephant in the room that there is: child sex trafficking. The statistics are enough to make anyone sick to their stomach, yet this issue gets minimal coverage. We want to change that. By challenging the media and raising awareness through our own social media campaigns and merchandise, we hope to shed light on this dark issue.

The Motto

Be the light.

 

Our motto is heavily inspired by John 1:5, which says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

No matter how much darkness is around it, a light will always overpower any and all darkness it touches. This analogy is what we want to represent with our brand. While the topic of child trafficking is one of the darkest evils in our world, we have the power to shed light on it and help put an end to it.

the Name

We put a lot of thought into the branding of “The Heard”, including the name itself. The purpose of our name is to represent the children who are victims of human trafficking. We want to give these children a voice, they deserve to be heard. The name also has a subtle play on words where the “heard” sounds like the “herd”, further representing the elephant symbolism used throughout.

The Logo

Our logo is an important mark that says a lot about our company. The logo subtly represents two elephants, the negative space is the baby elephant, and the black spiral around it represents the mother.

The use of elephants is significant in that these animals symbolize the fact that this topic is often described as “the elephant in the room”. Another reason we chose elephants to represent our brand is because elephants are strong, smart animals that are known to go to extreme lengths to protect their young.
